PIXIE CUT

Forget everything you've found out about curls and short cuts. Halle Berry's tough-but-feminine crop works on nearly any texture, and isn't as high-maintenance as you'd think. Ask your stylist for any graduated pixie style. "You do not need a precision cut," says Morgan Willhite, creative director at Ouidad. "It ought to be longer on the top showing off of the texture and choppiness." Allow it to dry naturally and employ a frizz-control product, like Tigi Bed Head Candy Fixations Totally Baked Volumizing and Prepping Hair Meringue, to give the top separation and shine. Just make sure prior to deciding to make the grade all off: "As soon as your hair is always that short, you can not hide behind it," Willhite says.

AFRO

This is simply not your mother's afro. Solange Knowles's is an update around the iconic ’70s style. "It is a refreshing silhouette that does not a lot of women dare to test," says Lorraine Massey, co-owner of Devachan Salon. This works more effectively on coarse, tight textures than loose curls because you require the volume to get the fullness. "This is a modern, precision afro," says Willhite. "It is a teardrop shape: round towards the top and tapered at the ears to hug the jawline and give it more shape." Even though this style best complements a round or square face (long face shapes tend to be exacerbated by the silhouette), it does not have many other rules—just make sure it's properly hydrated having a leave-in conditioner so it features a healthy sheen. Willhite likes Kinky-Curly-Satin Roots Leave-in Conditioner.

BLENDED BANGS

To obtain Marion Cotillard's soft, wavy look, request very light layers along the bottom of the hair and blended bangs that fall to mid-eyebrow. "These bangs can suit many people because they're side-swept rather than short," says Massey. While tight curls and coarse hair may have downside to this beachy look (unless you're willing to blow it out every morning), it's perfect for loose, wavy hair using a fine texture.

LOB

Long bobs aren't only for women with straight strands. Proof: Vanessa Hudgens's sexy shoulder-grazing bob. Request a wedge cut; short layers in the back and long, face-framing layers in the front create an appealing angle. Bonus: The long layers can slim a round face. "And because the layers are long in the front, you may not have a problem with curls bouncing up round the face and not blending," says Willhite. Just don't allow the rear go wild. You may get frizz in check by running Ouidad Heating and cooling Heat & Humidity Gel through wet hair with your fingers and using the diffuser attachment on your own blow-dryer.

CURLY SHAG

As this is about controlled chaos, it's best for girls using a curly texture, like Rihanna. "People often think using a razor can be a total no-no with wild hair," says Willhite. "However when you wish to achieve a bit-y, shaggy seem like this—which can be fuller towards the roots and wispier in the ends—a razor is the best strategy." To prevent letting this style get frizzy, skip this look if you belong to the overly coarse or unruly hair-texture category. Make use of a serum or pomade, like Kinky-Curly Gloss, when hair is damp, let it dry naturally, and don't touch it!

LONG, WAVY LAYERS

As a result of length and layers, people who have naturally wavy or loose curls like Kate Hudson can display this look well, says Willhite. The cut enhances the hair's natural softness. Maintain the layers below the chin so curls do not get too bouncy. In accordance with Massey, women with fine, less-textured hair could have a hard time with this cut (unless they're willing to spend their mornings with a curling iron). A light spray gel, like Tresemmé Flawless Curls Curl Defining Spray Gel, adds texture without weighing strands down.

LONG, CURLY LAYERS

Length is essential when your curls are tight, like Annalynne McCord's—long layers help weigh them down. If you prefer a soft, face-framing look, request layers that start no greater than the chin or collarbone, so curls have sufficient weight to hold down. To get McCord's springy movement and volume, wring the water from your hair after showering and work the light cream, like Ouidad Hydrafusion Curl Cream, through damp hair to control the curls.

LONG CURLS

Taylor Swift's curls would be best suited to fine, wavy hair. Ask for an extended, layered hair cut with short, angled layers at the jaw to produce a side-swept try looking in leading. In case your waves are falling flat, work with an enhancing gel, like U R Curly Loose Curl Enhancer, while hair is wet. To control frizz, use the diffuser along with your blow-dryer.

TIGHT CURLS AND STEEP LAYERS

Attention all curly-hair types: This is the cut. , nor forget to visit big, like BeyoncĂ© does. "Setting it up big using a diffuser is what's fun about this," says Willhite. Require long and wispy (not blunt) layers utilizing a slide-cutting technique. "Should you put a lot of layers at the top, it'll get too curly—you want so that it is softer around the face," she says. Use a hydrating product like leave-in conditioner, and when hair is dry, look at random pieces having a curling iron.

LONG, LOOSE WAVES

Sarah Jessica Parker is practically the poster child for frizzy hair. And with justification: Her polished waves are generally smooth and bouncy. With fine hair and wavy to medium curls, it'll be straighter in the roots and also have more texture toward the ends. Apply a leave-in conditioner having a frizz-controlling serum, like Aveda's Be Curly Curl Enhancer, while hair is still damp.
